Do not just check the weight on the scales, also beware of your waist size. Women who have a waist circumference over 80 centimeters can already be classified as obese according to new guidelines which revises the previous standard that is 90 centimeters.

The Japan Society for the Study of Obesity (JASSO) states that women have a body mass index below 25 but above the waist circumference of 80 cm has been regarded as excessive obesity. Under the old guidelines, the size is still classified as obese (overweight).

Body mass index (BMI) 25 or more is certainly not healthy, especially if you have other heart disease risk factors like high cholesterol, hypertension, and abdominal circumference and has more than 85 cm for men and 90 for women.

Health authorities in Japan determine new criteria for assessing whether a person suffering from metabolic syndrome at the time of medical examination for those who are aged over 40 years.

Based on the analysis of the data that they spend, it was concluded that health problems like high cholesterol would happen if there is accumulation of fat in the abdomen, ie more than 85 cm in men and 80 cm in women.
